CertHE Computing​

Course details and modules

The CertHE in Computing is designed to equip you with the essential skills and knowledge needed to launch your career successfully. The course modules are regularly updated by experienced computing faculty members, ensuring you develop the expertise required to meet both current and emerging industry demands.

Modules

This one-year course, delivered through full-time blended learning, provides additional study support and is perfect for those who may not be ready to commit to a full three-year degree program. Upon completing the CertHE, you’ll have the opportunity to progress to Level 5 (year two) of the degree course if you choose to continue your studies. The course content is regularly updated by experienced computing faculty members to ensure you acquire the skills needed to meet both current and emerging demands in the industry.

  • Introduction to Academic Skills and Professional Development
  • Introduction to Computer Systems and Security
  • Introduction to Databases
  • Introduction to Programming
  • Introduction to Web Authoring
  • Productivity and Collaboration Tools for Learning and Work
Eligibility​

We welcome applicants who can demonstrate a strong commitment to completing this qualification. To get started, you’ll need to successfully complete a one-week Introduction to Higher Education programme, which follows the same schedule as your chosen course. Once you pass this introduction, you’ll be ready to begin your CertHE journey.

Applicants must demonstrate English language proficiency with one of the following:

  • IELTS score of 6.0 (with no less than 5.5 in any component) or an equivalent qualification.
  • Evidence of previous studies completed in English at an appropriate level.

For those whose first language is not English, an additional 1.5 hours of subject-specific academic English support will be provided each week to aid your learning.
