Course details and modules

 

The course offers tailored subject modules designed to help develop career-focused skills in professional counselling. In the final year, students select a counselling practice area to explore and complete a research project. Graduates gain the confidence and expertise to apply their psychology knowledge across diverse career paths and further learning opportunities.

One-to-one support from lecturers and academic skills tutors is available throughout the course, along with networking opportunities through guest speaker sessions from sectors like the fire service, policing, and the NHS. The academic team, with diverse professional backgrounds, emphasizes practical learning, ensuring students understand how to apply their skills in real-world contexts.

You can take up to three years to finish each level; your course spans three to nine years. Still most of our pupils want to finish the degree in three to six years.

Eligibility​
 
  1. A minimum of three passes at grade C or above, including mathematics at GCSE level or equivalent.
  2. For those without a GCSE or equivalent in mathematics, completing an assessment-free preparatory module before the course is strongly recommended.

Applicants with at least 12 months of relevant work experience may be considered. A personal statement demonstrating your readiness for the course, along with references and evidence of work experience, will be required.

English Language Requirements

An IELTS score of 6.0 (with no less than 5.5 in any component) or TOEFL iBT 80, or an equivalent qualification, is required. Alternatively, evidence of previous study in English, such as a letter confirming English as the Medium of Instruction, may be accepted.
